Staying on track: Planned goal striving is protected from disruptive internal states

摘要: Past implementation intention research focused on shielding goal striving from disruptive internal states (e.g., being anxious) by forming if–then plans that link these very to instrumental coping responses. In the present line of research, we investigated whether planning out means specifying opportunities initiate goal-directed responses also protects negative impact states. Indeed, in face states, participants who had been asked form intentions targeted for initiating outperformed with a mere do well focal task goal. Actually, performed as control were not burdened such certain mood (Study 1), ego-depleted 2), or self-definitionally incomplete 3). Results are discussed pointing importance hypo-egoic self-regulation.
