摘要: Abstract Improvement in the efficiency of internal combustion engine has resulted increased usage aluminium alloys and, particular, aluminium-silicon as a substitute for cast iron. Despite wide use such materials tribological environments little knowledge is available on wear resistance alloys. This paper investigates performance range binary produced by novel melt-spray technique. In addition, samples 11wt% silicon alloy were conventional casting methods to elucidate influence morphology resistance. Pin-on-ring tests carried out under dry and boundary-lubricated conditions. Surface analysis showed similar mechanism both conditions, these being: (1) oxidative (2) metallic wear. Under conditions load at which transition occurred was increased. Raising content reflected an increase load. sliding rate with reduction particle size, whereas reverse observed sand-cast exhibited superior performance.
