THE MARINE DIAPSID REPTILE ENDENNASAURUS FROM THE UPPER TRIASSIC OF ITALY

摘要: The marine reptile Endennasaurus from the Upper Triassic Zorzino Limestone of northern Italy is rede- scribed and reassessed. New details skull postcra- nial skeleton are revealed, confirming attribution this genus to diapsid clade Thalattosauriformes. Phylo- genetic analysis suggests that was related European Askeptosaurus Chinese Anshun- saurus. Despite a rather conservative postcranial morphology, clearly occupied highly specialized dietary niche as it combined slender tapering premaxillary rostrum with complete absence either marginal or palatal teeth.
