摘要: Religion is considered by many practitioners to form the foundation of morality. However, religiosity varies substantially at individual and societal level. Understanding this variation from an evolutionary perspective can aid in disentangling religion This chapter presents a study that sought set replicate extend previous findings regarding Norris Inglehart’s (Sacred Secular: Worldwide Politics, Cambridge University Press, New York, 2004) “Secure Society Theory” religiosity, which states with extent one feels secure one’s environment. The relationship between perceptions security—as opposed national indicators—and has yet be tested. addressed analyzing data General Social Survey, supplemented FBI US Census data. Results indicated safe walking around neighborhood night predicts even when crime rate, poverty age, sex, race are controlled statistically. Additionally, time series analyses 1980 2012 provided partial support for Secure Theory, fear predicting future religiosity.
