摘要: In 1976, Paolo Cerretelli published an article entitled "Limiting factors to oxygen transport on Mount Everest" in the Journal of Applied Physiology. The paper demonstrated role cardiovascular limiting maximal consumption (VO2max). agreement with predominant view VO2max limitation at that time, however, its results were taken mean does not limit altitude. So it was argued factor could be periphery, and muscle blood flow proposed as a possible candidate. Despite this suggestion, conclusion generated series papers structural characteristics. These experiments loss oxidative capacity chronic hypoxia, thus provided unambiguous refutation then widespread hypothesis increased is needed altitude compensate for lack oxygen. This analysis followed by short account Cerretelli's more recent work, special attention subject so-called "lactate paradox".
