摘要: Green gastric residuals (GR) are often considered as a sign of feed intolerance and discarded in preterm infants. Probiotics known to enhance tolerance To assess the composition (primary outcome) volume green GRs, feeding outcomes extremely (EP) infants probiotic trial, pale dark GRs first two weeks life from EP (<28 weeks) randomized controlled trial (RCT: SiMPro) single vs. three-strain probiotics was assessed. Feeding included time full feeds (TFF: 150 mL/kg/day) duration parenteral nutrition (PN). given placebo our previous RCT served reference group. Analysis involved linear regression modelling with clustered standard errors for repeated measurements. 74/103 39 SiMPro (18: single-strain, 21: three-strain) were analyzed. Bile acid content higher but statistically insignificant (825.79 338.1 µmol/L; p = 0.12) GRs. Mean (95% confidence interval) fat, nitrogen, carbohydrate loss over study period 0.02 g (0.01–0.03), 0.011 (0.009–0.013), 0.05 (0.04–0.06), respectively. Overall, had shorter median TFF (10 14 days, 0.02) PN 16 0.022) compared control group Z scores growth parameters at discharge comparable. Discarding meant bile acids during early enteral Probiotic supplementation associated reduced PN.
