摘要: A simple design for a thermal molecular beam system is described, which can be added as bolt‐on to conventional vacuum system. It provides of well‐defined spatial distribution, heated or cooled, and used variety applications. These include the accurate rapid determination sticking probabilities their coverage dependence, gas temperature dependence sticking, reactive scattering measurements. The use exemplified dissociative oxygen on Cu(110) reaction methanol with predeposited patch oxygen. initial O2 probability determined 0.21 (±0.01) independent substrate (300–600 K). Methanol dehydrogenated by preadsorbed O atoms, but different mechanisms at high low temperatures.
