Epidemiologic features of Strongyloides stercoralis infection in an endemic area of the United States.

摘要: The epidemiologic features of Strongyloides stercoralis infection in Kentucky were studied by an analysis clinical cases at the University Medical Center (UKMC); parasitologic records Bureau for Health Services (KBHS); and a prospective stool survey school children Clay County, located southeastern Kentucky, area state previously found to be highly endemic intestinal parasites. S. was most common parasitic diagnosed UKMC. patients predominantly white male adults who over 50 years old, had associated chronic or debilitating medical illness, low socioeconomic background, resided Kentucky. KBHS ad showed similar geographic distribution. Of 561 County surveyed, 23.7% harbored one more parasite pathogens 3.0% stercoralis. Thus, remains may cause disease even geriatric patients.
