摘要: Abstract Since its initial demonstration, semiconductor-based solar water splitting has seen an unprecedented continuation of efforts for almost 50 years. Yet, the overall performance this approach remains impractically low. An important reason slow progress is lack understanding. The limited knowledge obtained on a few model systems been found difficult to transfer or generalize, creating one most daunting challenges faced by scientific community.
