摘要: Background. This paper presents the literature on biomarkers of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) outcome, demonstrating progression these studies towards metabolite profiling, specifically metabolomics. The need for more, and improved, metabolomics field assisted conception is discussed. Methods. Searches were performed ISI Web Knowledge SM associated with oocyte embryo quality, IVF outcome culture medium, follicular fluid (FF), blood plasma female mammals. Results. Metabolomics reproduction still its infancy. investigations medium selection have been most common, but only within last five years. Only 2012 has first investigation FF quality reported. human this context aimed at identifying women polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Conclusions. becoming more established conception, so far preliminary not all potential applications yet explored. With further improved studies, possibility a method predicting may become reality.
