摘要: In 2003, the US National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) agreed to fund a project sequence entire genome of boxer dog named Tasha. Although USA is country lovers, with approximately 38 million households owning one or more dogs, why did Institutes Health countenance use $30m for such purpose? The answer that NHGRI recognised value as an unrivalled model study human disease. this paper, reasons good are examined. Examples where disease in dogs increasing understanding genetic basis disease, development improved diagnostic assays and evaluation clinical therapies provided.
