Nurses' perceptions of early breast cancer and mastectomy, and their psychological implications, and of the role of health professionals in providing support

摘要: The literature on the psychological precursors and outcomes of cancer role surgeon nurse in management early breast cancer, is briefly reviewed. A questionnaire study tapped nurses' perceptions disease its treatment, patients' problems provision support. Their responses indicated mixed attitudes toward treatment outcomes, but a general enthusiasm for health education. Mastectomy itself was seen as posing serious social by half sample, sexual more than three-quarters, many felt that support currently provided patients inadequate. While nurses saw themselves having key giving comfort, they were less likely to see counsellor. Many sample had not been trained provide care at this level. Here, skills specialist looked for, case counselling patient herself, or authority doctor, when husbands.
