摘要: Aim : The radioprotective effect of Panax ginseng extract (PGE) against oxidative stress and liver tissue injury induced by gamma radiation was investigated. Also biochemical, markers histological changes were estimated. Materials methods Twenty white albino rats weighing 120-150 g.The animals assigned into four groups, each group contained five rats. Group (1): Animals the first kept as control, (2): Rats second given (100mg/ kg b.w), (3): before exposure to γ- (IRR), (4): only exposed (IRR). Blood samples taken for measurement asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), lipid profile, Alanine-amino-transferase (ALT) Aspartate-amino-transferase (AST). Tissue from livers determination oxidative, nitrosative nitric oxide (NOx), peroxidation end product malondialdehyde (MDA), reduced glutathione (GSH) level, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity. Results In irradiated animals, MDA NOx levels significantly increased in liver, while a marked decrease hepatic Contents GSH well activity SOD demonstrated. The total cholesterol, TG, LDL, activities AST, ALT, level ADMA, sera This coupled with decreased serum HDL. Preirradiation treatment PGE caused significant decreases MDA, produced elevation content, liver. Moreover, total cholesterol, LDL HDL ALT, ameliorated when injected irradiation but ADMA non compared group. Apart these, histopathological also revealed protective damage tissues. Conclusion increase concomitant change antioxidant indicated role radiation-induced damage. showed impact
