Willing and Able: Talking about sexual heath during male circumcision research in Papua New Guinea

摘要: Papua New Guinea is the largest land mass and population in Melanesia. The experiences myriad health social challenges including: poverty, violence, maternal mortality, intimate partner malaria, TB, Sexually Transmitted Infections including HIV. Against a background of government directed closure marketing for condoms, constitutional religious sensibilities, department official calling 'adultery to be made criminal act', purported position that it culturally difficult discuss intimate, we highlight evidence when people are provided safe confidential context they do openly talk about sexual concerns. We outline how, during data collection 'Acceptability Male Circumcision HIV Prevention PNG' study (data presented elsewhere), male participants were asked clinical examination photo their penis order verify circumcision status reported in the questionnaire.
