摘要: Total (elastic plus inelastic) differential cross sections of 30, 40, and 50 keV electrons incident on N2 have been measured in the angular range 9–200 mrad. The accuracy achieved was about 0.1%. apparatus is discussed extensive detail. data are used to determine molecular structure parameters then matched independent atom model composed Hartree–Fock atoms. In a second comparison, configuration interaction atoms utilized. difference curve s4(Iexpt−Itheo) constructed integrated order binding energy. value varies from 17 eV 10 depending matching procedure chosen. Since were at various electron energies, validity first Born approximation could be investigated. It found that theory holds within uncertainty data. Thus, recent discrepancies Compton profile measurements must attributed failure binary encounter theory.
