摘要: Binocular combination of monocular inputs transpires within cortical neurons that vary in ocular dominance, owing to developmental and experiential influences govern the strengths innervation from two eyes1. Accordingly, binocular experience may visual field due regional imbalances impact effective signal eyes. Rather than having a single dominant eye, people have differences sensory eye dominance (SED)2,3. Using rivalry, competitive phenomenon with dynamics sensitive stimulus strength competing images, we mapped patterns SED observers' fields. Observers tracked perceptual alternations while dichoptically viewing dissimilar stimuli imaged at various locations. RESULTS reveal relative predominance eyes can widely across field, some locations promoting equal balance others strongly biased toward one (see Figure). were reliable sessions (r=0.55, p 10% difference on both runs, r=0.70, p< 0.0001). Importantly, appears function like reduction contrast for weaker - amount balancing required by equate is closely predicated magnitude imbalance (r=0.85, 0.01). These results indicate relies local mechanisms are idiosyncratic fields typical observers. Such naturally occurring variability contributed widespread functions such as stereopsis, where produce impaired stereoacuity. Within subset observers tested, stereopsis indeed regions pronounced SED. Continuing investigations exploring inter-ocular variations other functions. Meeting abstract presented VSS 2015. Language: en
