摘要: Many have postulated that a specific microbial metabolism or the presence of microbes or/and their extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) can lead to formation dolomite. Although now there is consensus dolomite be formed in microorganisms, exact nature involvement nucleation remains matter debate. The focus understanding how mats determine mineralogy Here we report effect EPS extracted from phototrophic mat isolated sabkha Qatar dominated by cyanobacteria (Lyngbya aestuarii) precursors at 25 °C and 40 °C. Both temperature impact size morphology minerals, promoting spherulitic dumbbell growth sulfate free solutions. proto-dolomite was enhanced abundance carboxylated molecules which controlled polymorphism carbonates. Our study emphasizes dual importance organic on mineral chemical composition sabkhas.
