摘要: Background This is an update of a Cochrane review first published in The Library Issue 4, 2006 and previously updated 2009. Tinnitus described as the perception sound or noise absence real acoustic stimulation. It has been compared with chronic pain, may be associated depression depressive symptoms which can affect quality life ability to work. Antidepressant drugs have used treat tinnitus patients without symptoms. Objectives To assess effectiveness antidepressants treatment ascertain whether any benefit due direct effect secondary concomitant states. Search methods We searched Ear, Nose Throat Disorders Group Trials Register; Central Register Controlled (CENTRAL); PubMed; EMBASE; PsycINFO; CINAHL; Web Science; BIOSIS; ICTRP additional sources for unpublished trials. date most recent search was 5 January 2012. Selection criteria Randomised controlled clinical studies antidepressant versus placebo tinnitus. Data collection analysis Two authors critically appraised retrieved extracted data independently. Where necessary we contacted study further information. Main results Six trials involving 610 were included. Trial generally low. Four looked at tricyclic on tinnitus, investigating 405 patients. One trial investigated selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) group 120 trazodone, atypical antidepressant, placebo. Only using SSRI drug reached highest standard. None other included met standard, use inadequate outcome measures, large drop-out rates failure separate effects from anxiety depression. All assessing suggested that there slight improvement but these attributable methodological bias. found no overall validated measures although possible subgroup received higher doses drug. This observation merits investigation. In results showed intensity after treatment, neither case statistical significance. Reports side including sedation, sexual dysfunction dry mouth common. Authors' conclusions There yet insufficient evidence say therapy improves tinnitus.
