Different levels of Fos immunoreactivity after repeated handling and injection stress in two inbred strains of mice

摘要: Expression of Fos and Fos-related antigens was immunohistochemically analyzed in DBA/2J C57BL/6J inbred mice response to acute or repeated handling injection stress. Both strains showed a strong induction discrete areas hypothalamus, amygdala, neocortex, septum, thalamus 2 h after an intraperitoneal normal saline. To habituate animals this procedure, were subjected injections during weeks preceding the experiment. This procedure led complete habituation immediate early gene stress stress-responsive brain mice, such that no significant difference found between expression these proteins brains saline-injected vs. control animals. In contrast, many still elevated antigen injections. These results indicate identical procedures do not necessarily lead levels mice. turn, they suggest genetic components for some behavioral pharmacological traits identified using could be related different rates experimental procedures.
