摘要: Abstract The DNA homology relationships among 31 human adenovirus serotypes (Ad1–Ad31) were investigated by liquid-phase molecular hybridization, using in vitro labeled viral as probe. Hybridizations carried to 40 times the C 0 t 1 2 and assayed batchwise chromatography on hydroxylapatite (HAP), some experiments use of more stringent S1 nuclease procedure. Five distinct groups, A E, identified. DNAs group Ads (Ad12, 18, 31) hybridized 48 69% with each other 8 20% (HAP). B (Ad3, 7, 11, 14, 16, 21) 89 94% (HAP; 81 89% nuclease) 9 15% types. (Ad1, 2, 5, 6) 99 100% 10 16% types D (Ad8–10, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 22–30) 95 99% 88 98% 4 17% Ad4 23% 3 22% types, thus is only member E. Members within all groups except closely related. showed considerable heterology, six isolates, classified Ad12 neutralization tests, much related Ad31 than prototype Huie strain. These groupings are consistent main properties “groupings” Ads, e.g., oncogenic (tumorigenicity newborn hamsters), T-antigen G + content DNA, hemagglutination characteristics subviral particles virion proteins (e.g., length fiber), epidemiology pathogenicity.
