摘要: We present Spitzer observations of the unusual variable V838 Monocerotis. Extended emission is detected around object at 24, 70, and 160 μm. The extended infrared strongly correlated spatially with HST optical light echo images taken a similar epoch. attribute this diffuse nebulosity to an caused by reprocessed thermal from dust heated outward-propagating radiation 2002 eruption. detection IR provides us opportunity estimate mass in material hence constrain its origin. be on order solar mass—thereby implying total gas plus considerably more—too massive for ejecta previous outburst/mass-losing events. This suggests therefore that significant fraction matter seen through interstellar Unresolved 24 70 μm also position central star, possibly indicating presence hot freshly condensed outburst ejecta.
