摘要: Abstract Besides posing soaring pressure on water and land resources, the ever-intensifying agricultural production redistributes these pressures trough increasingly intensive trade. Environmental consequences are complicated unprecedented, postulate thorough scrutiny. Little attention is paid to developing regions which small nodes in terms of trade volume global however visible gaps productivities. Five Central Asian nations (CANs) have close activities with their neighbour China, but efficiency strikingly low ecological environment severely degraded. Here we evaluate, among CANs footprints, virtual trades, as well potentials enhancing related sixteen primary crop products, four animal twelve derivative products over period 2000-2014. We find that blue footprint per unit product were up 61- 17-times higher than China. Through without further intervention endowments, scenario for shows an additional food supply feeding 387 million people or half starving population world.
