摘要: Abstract Farm diversification is stimulated by the societal demand to transform production countryside into consumption countryside. In most empirical studies on farmers’ decision making for diversification, geographical information either omitted or reduced a variable that links farm an administrative unit. Therefore, influence of exact location often lacking. The paper addresses role location, in terms site specific natural conditions as well neighboring dynamics, influencing diversify. Moreover, it investigates what extend low returns from primary stimulate farmers find new survival strategies, and therefore explains diversification. Gelderse Vallei area, region center Netherlands, used case study. For this area extensive survey data could be combined with topographic soil maps (GIS). Both number activities kind are taken up analyzed. Landscape attractiveness turns out driver Daily recreation frequently occurs close national parks, green services more likely occur relatively wet soils. Activities resulting might produce positive externalities: have tendency emerge next already existing ones, therewith explaining formation “hotspots” landscape.
