SURFACE-PLASMON-ENHANCED TRANSMISSION THROUGH METALLIC GRATINGS

摘要: In a recent paper Ebbesen et al. [Nature 391, 667 (1998)] reported on extraordinary optical transmission through hole arrays in metallic films. They suggested an enhancement of the by surface plasmons. Using Chandezon method, we have performed numerical calculations for silver gratings with very small slits. Our results agree qualitatively Ebbesen's measurements. By evaluating near field media above and below metal can verify that astonishingly high maxima indeed correspond to excitation plasmons either side metal.
