Dealing with disclosure: Perspectives from HIV-positive children and their older carers living in rural south-western Uganda

摘要: There are limited data on the challenges faced by carers, in particular older managing difficult task of status disclosure for HIV-positive children. We report findings from qualitative interviews with 18 care dyads people and children living rural south-western Uganda. Our provide insights into perceptions norms influencing communication during following among both carers children, including those shaped gendered expectations girls' boys' sexual behaviour. Young participants reported several advantages knowing their showed considerable resilience face HIV disclosure. Better more support is needed to help health workers (particularly carers) manage cross-generational around other related aspects reproductive as critical children's psychosocial development well-being.
