摘要: Abstract The detailed development of the MRFIT protocol is discussed, beginning with general plan outlined by National Heart and Lung Institute in initial solicitation contract proposals. designed to test hypothesis that lowering serum cholesterol diet, reducing high blood pressure diet drugs, cessation cigarette smoking will result a reduced risk (a) death from coronary heart disease (CHD), (b) combined fatal CHD nonfatal myocardial infarction, (c) deaths all cardiovascular disease, (d) causes, over period 6 years among men aged 35–57 without evidence CHD. After screening 361,662 men, 1974 early 1976, 12,866 upper end spectrum on basis cholesterol, pressure, habits, were randomly assigned either program Special Intervention (SI) directed toward altering these factors or their usual source medical care (UC). Men UC group have been evaluated once each year clinic direct intervention factors. SI participated an intensive series sessions assist modification behavior relating three since invited at least times maintain increase factor change. Changes resulted mainly difficulty achieving expected response cholesterol. These changes included greater emphasis control body weight, recommendation more rigorous dietary specifications for those persistently elevated levels advice physical activity.
