Improving Market Selection for Fed Beef Cattle: The Value of Real-Time Ultrasound and Relations Data

摘要: The introduction of value-based marketing has provided the industry with means to price cattle based on their desired attributes and an alternative channel for producers select. Gains can be made by selecting animals that will “in grid” channels while screening out won't sending them dressed-value or live-weight channels. This study estimates gains from using real-time ultrasound (RTU) as well information graded animal relations (i.e., have same parentage slaughtered in previous years) predict carcass quality yield grades prior slaughter. These predictions are used optimization model designed select individual maximize returns. optimal strategy this involves a mix live-weight, dressed-weight grid sales methods rather than all together. results suggest increases returns range $0.61–27.26 per head data, $9.04-16.75 RTU measures $11.27-27.93 both selectively market beef animals. do not account could obtained improve timing, i.e., time when grade best. L'avenement du en fonction de la valeur produit permis l'industrie fixer le prix des bovins d'apres les parametres recherches et cree une nouvelle filiere commerciale pour eleveurs. En effet, ces derniers peuvent accroitre leurs revenus choisissant animaux qui presentent caracteristiques souhaitees confinant ceux ne possedent pas aux filieres se contentent poids carcasse ou vif.
