An examination on entrepreneurial competencies between lecturers of higher learning institutions in Malaysia and Nigeria

摘要: The entrepreneurship has emerged over the last three decades as one of most powerful economic forces world ever experienced. To date, enormous and remarkable international growth in field education focused mostly on course contents or programs and their immediate impacts on students neglecting lecturers’ competencies well relevant educational qualifications an important determinant to success entrepreneurship program. This justified need for this study. A quantitative research approach was adopted a purposive sampling technique was used determine sample size respondents – lecturers teaching courses Malaysian and Nigerian Higher Learning Institutions. data captured using structure questionnaire developed based extensive literature review related A total 1150 questionnaires were administered out which 620 60% were completed successfully returned by selected respondents. represents 237 (68%) from Malaysia 383 (69%) Nigeria. In order achieve research objectives study, statistical techniques- descriptive statistics, correlations and PLS regressions analyses employed. Findings showed that entrepreneurial attitudes is found be most with highest mean score 5.14 followed entrepreneurial skills 5.09 knowledge with 4.82. Similarly, Nigeria result further indicated that entrepreneurial attitude highest mean scores rate 4.89. Knowledge 4.82 skill has the lowest 4.80. Moreover, total nine hypotheses postulated and tested results both countries positive significant relationships between independent dependent variables. However, study has covered only some public universities polytechnics only. Further study can conducted wider basis lead more general conclusions. Findings study provided new model entrepreneurial competencies how develop enthusiasm enterprise culture among students. outcome will academics, policy makers students improve state learning where thought key competency set skills, knowledge and attitudes are
