摘要: Utilisation of mine waste, generated during mining different ores is utmost importance due to disposal problems. Sukinda region Orissa one the main source chromite ore in India. The estimated reserves are around 17 million tonnes. In process chrome an overburden 10 tonnes for each tonne and dumped as waste. overburden. contains 0.04 - 0.9% Ni, 0.02 0.06% Co major amounts iron silica. So far it has not been commercially exploited presence large quantity objective present invention selectively remove silica by alkali pressure leaching. investigation leaching was carried out concentrations sodium hydroxide. Various parameters such oxygen pressure, temperature, period hydroxide concentration were studied. It observed that maximum upgrading 1.65% Ni 0.09% could be achieved with 48% yield concentrate at 7.5 N NaOH concentration, 40 atmospheres, temperature 200degreesC 4 hours period. pH leach liquor 11.0. Chromium leached completely (only 40% removed) which indicated complex form chromium iron. Aluminium removed. beneficiated can utilised recovery nickel cabalt hydrometallurgical or pyrometallurgical processes.
