The Thermodynamics of Aqueous Water Electrolysis

摘要: Precise definitions are given of three thermodynamic parameters which characterize the water‐electrolysis reaction: enthalpic voltage, higher‐heating‐value and thermoneutral voltage. Expressions derived for these reversible potential, as functions temperature between 25° 250°C, pressure 1 100 atm. Heat losses due to radiation, convection, conduction also considered, a thermal‐balance voltage is defined; representative values calculated. Electrical‐energy efficiency related characteristic parameters, limitations on its value discussed.
