摘要: The coastal sediments (129 samples) of central- southwest coast India, in and around Cochin, the second biggest industrial city along west were analyzed for their textural geochemical fractions such as Fe, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb Zn on a seasonal basis, which form first report this kind. Metal accumulation was found to be highest during period just after summer monsoon due flushing previously deposited from Cochin backwaters; weak currents favoring deposition environment. Cross-shelf transport insignificant other two seasons. studies reveal different processes regulating regional distribution trace elements environment; viz: (1) increased monsoonal supply materials through backwaters causing metal (2) Effective masking these metals by incorporation into clay organic association follows immediately monsoon. As season progresses, they are further impoverished (normalized) size segregation marine sediments. correlations between various sedimentary parameters elucidated interpret coherence metallic carrier phases each season. While associations most with seasons preferential, absence any correlation Mn carbon all occasion is striking.
