VOICE QUALITY AND CONSONANTAL WEAKENING: A CASE OF CORRELATION IN SCOUSE?

摘要: Liverpool English, also known as Scouse, presents peculiar characteristics on the segmental well paralinguistic level, probably linked with Irish immigration (see [4], [7]). Maybe most important feature is lenition of obstruents to affricates or fricatives a result lax voice context. The widespread velarization all consonantal segments in Scouse seems interact phonatory setting, causing vocal type defined adenoidal. Our analysis, based corpus spontaneous speech produced by six native speakers, aims at an acoustic evaluation quality through use parameters which allow us classify phonation types according reliable labels (cf. [1], [6]). There be gender differentiation relation frequency far characterization speakers concerned.
