摘要: AIM The Western world has an expanding older population, who are living longer with increasing numbers of comorbidities. In addition, expectations patients and relatives increasing. As a general hospital operating in rural setting, our University Hospital Kerry, Tralee, Ireland, deals significant number emergency presentations to the acute surgical service. aim present study was examine outcomes for extremes age requiring procedures. METHODS A retrospective review theater admission logs carried out identify all surgeries from January 2008 December 2015. All aged >80 years at time surgery were identified. On multivariate analysis, American Society Anesthesia status unit utilization predicted (P = 0.04 0.05, respectively). total 82 required admission, 4.8 days, using 484 bed days total.
