Gallium and Germanium Substitutions in Synthetic Feldspars

摘要: Compounds of gallium and germanium isostructural with the feldspars have been prepared, some their crystal-chemical properties are here described. In Na K feldspars, $$Al^{+++}$$ $$Si^{++++}$$ can be completely replaced by $$Ga^{+++}$$ $$Ge^{++++}$$; but, in pure Ca feldspar, complete substitutions cannot made. The use these as a means obtaining information on is discussed. One principal aims this line investigation to obtain substitutional disorder alumino-silicates. It difficult locate specific positions Al Si atoms many silicates because approximately equivalent X-ray scattering power two atoms. heavier-element replacement should produce more definite degree disorder, it hoped that Ga Ge will help interpretation problems natural minerals.
