摘要: Background Explicit criteria for potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) developed from other regions were often difficult to apply a specific territory without significant modifications. Purpose To describe process of developing country-specific explicit PIM quality review several published criteria, followed by consensus among regional experts in Taiwan. Methods After the literature, we selected seven sets criteria. Medications/medication classes listed at least three as preliminary core PIMs. We asked group 21 various specialties rate how appropriate they found inclusion each medication/medication class final after two rounds modified Delphi methods. Results Table 1 instrument included 24 be generally avoided older adults irrespective comorbidities, and 2 12 chronic conditions with six that patients these should avoid. The Taiwan contained only half number statements Beers (36 vs 68 statements) but detected nearly 70–75% many PIMs polypharmacy secondary data analysis. Features straightforward statement arrangements, suggestions alternatives, clear definitions long-acting benzodiazepine anticholinergic drugs Conclusion A user-friendly was detect Taiwanese adults. Further prospective studies are needed validate its use clinical research settings. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. key words—potentially medications; criteria; aged; pharmacoepidemiology
