摘要: Group B streptococcus (GBS) is a major cause of neonatal sepsis and mortality worldwide. Studies from both developed developing countries have shown that HIV exposed but uninfected (HEU) infants are at increased risk infectious morbidity, as compared to unexposed (HUU). A higher susceptibility GBS infections has been reported in HEU infants, particularly late-onset diseases (LOD) more severe manifestations diseases. We review here the possible explanations for infection. Maternal colonization during pregnancy factor early-onset invasive disease rates not HIV-infected HIV-uninfected pregnant women, while selective with virulent strains women suggested some studies. Lower serotype specific maternal antibody transfer quantitative qualitative defects innate immune responses may play role disease. The impact antiretroviral treatment its consequences on activation newborns important study. immunization presents promising intervention reduce burden growing population.
