Laparoscopic versus minilaparotomy cholecystectomy : a randomised trial

摘要: Abstract Summary Although laparoscopic cholecystectomy has rapidly become routine practice in the UK, there been no rigorous comparison of it with open cholecystectomy. In our trial, 302 patients were randomised to or minilaparotomy Recovery after surgery was assessed by length hospital stay, outpatient review at 10 days and 4 weeks, patient questionnaires 1, 4, 12 weeks surgery. The mean operation time 14 min shorter for minilaparotomy, while median post-operative stay 2 costs about £400 greater procedure. Laparoscopic returned work home sooner; 1 week, they had better physical social functioning, less limited problems, pain depression. At only functioning depression scores group, 3 months differences. more satisfied appearance their scars. incidence complications both procedures 20%. Compared cholecystectomy, results postoperative dysfunction, quicker return normal activities, but is costly.
