摘要: Abstract The consideration set model posits that in multi-party elections voters decide two stages. We expect the stage, when select viable options, ideological proximity is a key determinant, while choice stage election-specific factors become particularly important. This would imply sets are rather stable and changes voting preferences occur mainly within ideologically coherent sets. study examines both claims by analyzing panel survey data from Sweden Netherlands. Consideration were indeed stable, more so than intentions. After one year, still considered same party 81% of cases only 13% respondents shifted between camps. indicates changed electoral primarily boundaries relatively These findings help to understand how can be volatile, despite strong impact highly orientations.
