Implantation of vascular grafts lined with genetically modified endothelial cells

摘要: The possibility of using the vascular endothelial cell as a target for gene replacement therapy was explored. Recombinant retroviruses were used to transduce lacZ into cells harvested from mongrel dogs. Prosthetic grafts seeded with genetically modified implanted carotid interposition dogs which original harvested. Analysis graft 5 weeks after implantation revealed lining luminal surface graft. This technology could be in treatment atherosclerosis disease and design new drug delivery systems.
