摘要: The ecological model of density dependent organizational evolution is tested using data on the 7,709 breweries operating in American market. Besides covering longest time period studied to date, these allow for examination three important issues that critics have raised: (1) applicability commercial business organizations; (2) plausibility alternative interpretations involving size and mass; (3) measurement legitimation. Estimates stochastic rates founding mortality show that, while there merit some criticisms, both are nonetheless non-monotonically related ways predicted by model. In most instances, relationships persist when rate functions specified with different socio-economic control variables. strong support found helps reconcile previously reported negative evidence.
