摘要: This study examined the effects of subcutaneous melatonin implants on testicular activity (testis volume and plasma testosterone) in wild rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) captured Zembra Island (North Tunisia) maintained natural temperature photoperiod conditions. The period was 2 months longer intact animals with than without implants. After bilateral superior cervical ganglionectomy, inhibited no spontaneous recrudescence gonadal function observed during 13 experiment, demonstrating absence an endogenous circannual rhythm reproductive this species. Renewed after insertion ganglionectomized animals. These results confirm that is stimulated by short days late autumn reactivates axis finding contrast to continental populations which reproduction or melatonin. are discussed terms insularity may reflect geographical isolation population.
