摘要: Municipalities need to develop Water Services Development Plans (WSDPs) as a first requirement in their budgetary process, and be made aware of the options that are available provide more than basic services. While 25l/person·d has been set minimum water supply while many consumers receive far excess this amount, there areas country where acceptable quality is not for household use. However, adequate quantities saline may be, or are, readily available. This especially case coastal cities towns. The cost treating only part total making drinking consumer. together with fact membrane technology becoming affordable energy can recovered, makes desalination viable domestic purposes. A desk study, funded by Department Affairs Forestry managed Research Commission, was undertaken identify treatment desalinating seawater from both Indian Atlantic oceans brackish boreholes. specific objectives project were compile Guide on technologies implemented South Africa treat standards, pretreatment necessary, present guidelines operational, maintenance, management environmental aspects relevant selection use these technologies. An important aspect also quantify capital operating costs planning purposes different components needed successfully bring accepted standards potable Of particular importance African application level skills required daily operation plants, technical back-up advice, advise competencies, training needs capacity building at operator levels. Lastly, local legislations governing identified.
