Leveling the playing field: promoting womens economic capabilities and human rights.

摘要: This synthesis paper presents the findings from a number of Promoting Women in Development (PROWID) projects that explore womens economic roles and opportunities their aspirations for advancement. It reviews constraints faced fulfilling these goals considers relationship between rights capabilities on one hand development policy practice other. Included are which grouped into three broad categories: 1) increasing local participation building skills changing institutional norms practices; 2) expanding access to control productive resources transforming institutions govern them; 3) promoting gender equity sustainable community management natural resources. Overall results lessons about advancement argue comprehensive multisectoral approach development. Several recommendations cited.
