摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the interpretation of cerebral Doppler ultrasound signals in newborn. has offered perhaps greatest promise by being rapid, noninvasive, portable, suitable for repeated observations, and thus readily applicable to sick infants newborn nursery. Within arterial system flow-velocity waves are traveling simultaneously two directions. Ventricular contraction transmits a wave spreading peripherally while branching tapering small arteries arterioles create returning reflected whose amplitude is related peripheral impedance. flowmeters detect net result these at particular point circulation. It component which leads increase waveform pulsatility seen with elevated impedance adult animal studies. In newborn, however, shape transmitted varies considerably. One major determinant this patency ductus arteriosus. presence patent arteriosus, there decrease or reversal diastolic velocity within systemic due steal blood into pulmonary
