摘要: Objective Several articles, most of them written by nondermatologists, have stressedthat bald men a higher risk for coronary artery disease than whoare not bald. This study was performed to evaluate the validity such conclusionsfrom dermatologic point view. Design A review 24 articles in literature from 1954 1999 as providedby MEDLINE and previous review. Results Five contained simple comments; 1 previousliterature; 3 dealt only with lipid profile. The remaining 15 articlesdealt baldness, 9 these concludedthat there is relationship between 2 conditions, especially youngersubjects severe early-onset androgenetic alopecia. Conclusions Baldness did coincide alopecia some thearticles examined, which makes it difficult settle issue. Subjectswho develop baldness before their 30s may coronaryartery other men, they be individuals early-onsetandrogenetic who also present particularly elevated dihydrotestosterone-testosteroneratios. theory should included secondary hypothesis inlarge epidemiological studies disease. Such shouldinclude expertise accurate, cost-effective evaluation ofbaldness.
