摘要: Importance Encephalitis mediated by anti– N -methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antibodies and herpes simplex (HS) encephalitis are seemingly separate causes of encephalopathy in adults children. Herpes is infectious, anti-NMDA antibody autoimmune origin. Both can cause seizures encephalopathy, although the latter also psychiatric symptoms movement disorders. Owing to rarity these 2 diseases, patients with co-occurrence important because they alert clinicians possible links between processes. Observations In a case series observed at our center, we describe an infant adult who had confirmed HS then developed encephalitis. Polymerase chain reaction testing for virus was performed. Testing NMDA performed Associated Regional University Pathologists Laboratory Salt Lake City, Utah. Conclusions Relevance We conclude that atypical cases or other viral encephalitides should be investigated concomitance suspect pathophysiologic mechanisms which infects neurons produce higher likelihood contracting
