摘要: The prophase and anaphase chromosomes of Aedes canadensis Theobald are illustrated, as the metaphase chromosome complements 16 other species, follows: Culex quinquefasciatus Say, C. salinarius Coquillett, tarsalis territans Walker, atropalpus A. hendersoni Cockerell, triseriatus (Say), vexans (Meigen), zoosophus Dyar Knab, Orthopodomyia alba Baker, O. signifera (Coquillett), Haemagogus equinus Theobald, Anopheles pseudopunctipennis Culiseta inornata (Williston), Psoropliora longipalpus complex, Toxorhynchites rutilans septentrionalis (Dyar Knab). Additional species examined but not illustrated include restitans Theobald. erraticus coronator sollicitans (Walker), Uranotaenia syntheta Shannon. Psorophora confinnis (Lynch Arribalzaga), P. discolor (Coquillett). these had previously been examined. number 2n = 6 was found in all studied. Distinctive were at alba, , T. r. for pseudopunctipeiinis . Except this last, quite similar. Mitosis is briefly compared with that reported pipiens These studies made on brain tissue prepupae, using squash technique aceto-orcein stain, techniques discussed. Future work suggested includes salivary gland meiosis. continued search unique karyotypes, use different tissues techniques, mitotic stages than metaphase.
