摘要: Puccinia psidii, the causal agent of myrtle rust, was first recorded from Latin America more than 100 years ago. It occurs on many native species Myrtaceae in and also infects non-native plantation-grown Eucalyptus region. The pathogen has gradually spread to new areas including Australia most recently South Africa. aim this study consider susceptibility selected genotypes, particularly those interest African forestry, infection by P. psidii. In addition, risk maps were compiled based suitable climatic conditions occurrence potential susceptible tree species. This made it possible identify season when psidii would be likely infect define geographic where rust disease establish As expected, variation observed between eucalypt genotypes tested. Importantly, commonly planted Africa show good for yielding disease-tolerant material future planting. Myrtle is predicted common spring summer. Coastal areas, as well with subtropical climates, are conducive outbreaks pathogen.
