摘要: This chapter offers a perspective on gender relations in predominantly male migrant-sending community Mexico. The aim is to bring the fore impacts of migration as lived sender and their implications for social justice human security. case indigenous rural municipality San Martin Ticlajete state Oaxaca, Mexico, community, examined, drawing methods critical feminist ethnography representations theory illustrate changes women who stay behind. Parallel migration, has also experienced important transformations due development woodcrafts trade increasing tourist activity. Very gradual empowerment have taken place, with becoming de facto household heads, well craft makers retailers, educators, administrators, agricultural producers, figures, civil servants. Nevertheless, detailed narrations women’s experiences show that new roles responsibilities do not necessarily translate into greater social, political, economic autonomy, or recognition invisible material emotional costs linked migration.
