摘要: ABSTRACT Objective To examine child psychiatric morbidity in an Arab culture. Method Emotional and behavioral problems were investigated 3,278 schoolchildren aged 6 to 15 years using a two-stage epidemiological study Al Ain District, United Emirates. Children screened standardized questionnaires completed by parents school physicians the first stage, stratified random sample interviewed psychiatrist second stage. Results 23.9% of children reported have mental health problem either parent or physician. Boys more often be having than girls (1.8:1). Using Rutter A2 scale for parents, prevalence estimate disorders was 16.5%. The weighted DSM-IV 10.4% entire population. presence certain culture-specific risk factors such as male gender, number household, polygamy, low socioeconomic status identified disorders. A positive family history consanguinity most significant associated with learning Conclusions rates symptomatology observed this Middle East community are similar those Western studies.
